Another thought, as Jane (Jenny) Copley was baptised in 1769, that is 50 years before the James Carr was born in Leeds in 1809 to parents Joseph Carr and Sarah.

It is possible, therefore, that Jane (Jenny) Copley and her husband had a son called Joseph and that is why he gave his daughter the middle name Copley.  I can't believe that Jane (Jenny) Copley and her husband were the parents of a child born in 1809 (and it's impossible for her to have been the mother of the one you found in 1819).

oops I mistyped earlier...

The igi I found was for a james carr born 1810...

Birth:  27 FEB 1810   Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire, England
and his dad is  Father:  James Carr   Mother: Mrs James Carr

Then i found a marriage of a James Carr to a Jenny Copley...

30 MAR 1789   Saint Peter, Leeds, Yorkshire, England

so that woman in the book, Jane (jenny) Copley... could if she had Our James(1810) at age 41... be the mother?

and then our James, when he married Martha Hay, later named one of there children Jenny Copley Carr??

Yes that makes more sense.

Like you, I'm often chasing very distant family, especially when I'm stuck on more direct lines. ::)

yup, its hard to know how far to go tracing the tree..."sidewards"...  but the first wife of the james i was after (and yes Im sure it is martha hay so thank you very much) james's second wife, is my 3xgreat uncles daughter, im going as far really as just those childen (as there cousins of some kind) and i list who they  married but her married family I only go a touch into a lil usually

but this one was different, because he, james carr... had kids from a  first wife, so I chased him to differentiate his two sets of children (it appears he had no kids w his second wife so far) then I found this lil pizzle  lol and they always intrigue me lol

Thank you very... very much :)

This  family is indexed as 'CARY' in 1841 at Ancestry:

piece 1310/11 folio 29 page 6
Primrose Hill
(Knotttingley)

James CARR 30 Wesleyan minister
Martha 20
Charlotte 1
Thomas 1week
/
Mary HAIGH 25 F.S.
(all but Martha born in county)

James is not listed in the methodist Archives Biographical Index (http://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/specialcollections/collections/methodist/using/biographicalindex/
but there is a Henry Lascelles CARR, born in Knottingley, who is described as a son of Wesleyan minister James CARR.

However, his birth was registered in JUN Qtr 1841, so either he and 1 week old Thomas are the same person or there is a mistake somewhere, or it's a different James CARR.

The other question, probably not important, where is the daughter Hannah in 1841?
