Natceez that is very sound advice you have given to Johann Claassen, which ordinarily would be great steps forward.

How kind to have traced his forbear's grave.

All the advice you have posted will be of great use to someone else, myself included, thank you.

Cheers

Hi all,

Just to notify you that I found my grandfather's birth inscription in the birth register of George, South Africa. His mother's name is Mary Ann WATERSON. Father still unknown. But at least, now I have something to work with here in South Africa. Thank you all for your time and effort. However, I will be back soon with or without more good news!

Kind regards
Johann

Hi Johann Classen

Glad that you have made such progress!

Did the inscription you found give any indication as to Mary Ann's place of birth, or nationality perhaps?

Cheers

Hi Johann,
I am new to the site.

I don't know if this info would be able to help you. My Grandpa was George Waterson, his Family moved to SA in the 1800's  from the UK not quite sure of the exact date. They lived in CT, my Grandpa then moved to Eastern Transvaal (now Limpopo) where he met my Grandma, Sophia Visage,  they had 3 Children.

John Bernard Waterson  - born 1920 (deceased)
Elizabeth "Betty" Waterson - born 1925 (deceased)
David Peter Waterson - born 1928 (my Dad, deceased in 1975).

My Grandpa worked for the mines in Penge (Limpopo) as a truck driver then went on to start a
transport business which my Father later took over until time of his death. My Grandpa also had a Brother Sydney Frank  Waterson who was a Minister during Jan Smuts's tenure. My Dad had 5 children

All of my Family is still in the Limpopo Province. My Dad has 3 living stepsisters

They had a Sister & a Brother who are deceased.

Hope this is able to help you with your search !

Lamicky Waterson
