** COMPLETED ** GLA Parish Record lookup - James HARDE
« on: Saturday 21 August 10 05:49 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I wonder if anyone is able to assist and look up a marriage record in St Mary's Parish Registers for me please, and advise if there is any additional information of any sort available in the entry?

The detail I have been able to discover is:-

03 Feb 1827 - St Mary Parish Church -- James HARDE married Ann WILLIAM

no other details mentioned so I am not 100% convinced these are 'my' folk.

Any help appreciated.

cheers
Lynda

oh dear -- my post seemed so clear to me at the time but of course, there will be more than one St Mary's!  :-[

My apologies -- I mean St Marys, Swansea.

Cheers

Good morning, Lynda.

Glamorgan FHS Marriage Index records the marriage with the following codes:

B = Married by banns
P = Personal details, etc
W = Name of witness

These indicate that there is certainly some further information available on the register.

Regards,
Lee.
Morriston - Williams, Thomas
Taibach & Margam - Lucas, Thomas, Griffith(s), David
Gower - Lucas, Richard(s), Beynon, Bevan, Ace, Gorton (Gordon), Eaton
Begelly - Nash, Cole, Bowen

Thanks Lee.

I live in NZ so have no opportunity to look up this record personally.  Perhaps SKS will be able to assist... :-)

Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Lynda,
Normally wouldn't be a problem but I can't get to the Archives until at least Tue next (6th Sep). If you haven't heard in the meantime, will be in touch.

regards

Lynda,
Managed to get to the Archives yesterday.  Re marriage James Harde, I have a copy of the Parish Marriage entry. Will send image when I've re-installed printer (replaced hub yesterday). In the meantime, the witnesses were -

Mathew Samuel
William Davies

Also looked up and found the following entries in the Glam FHS Transcriptions St Mary's Church
Births
Harde, Charles William, father James, bap 22/7/1810
Harde, Caroline, father James, occ'n lab, mother Susanna, bapt 14/5/1815 age 5wks
Harde, William, father James, occ'n cooper, mother Ann, bapt 24/10/1830, address Swansea
Harde, George, father James, occ'n cooper, mother Ann, bap 27/5/1832, address Swansea
Burials
Harde, George, 30/4/1833, Swansea, age 13mths

Re Electoral Register check
Ironically have been in Carmarthen all week and had hoped to find time to check the Llanelly address first. As it is, it's the Swansea adress first.

1950 and 1951 - No 14 is not listed in the Rolls (unoccupied/no one eligible to vote).
1945 - 5 names registered against No14 (4 are names you are interested in).
1939 - 2 names registered (don't appear relevant)

Will forward details separately with image.

Insufficient time to check registers year by year to fix when your family moved into No 14. But at least have made a start. More to follow.

regards.

thanks for all these details Hanes  -- quite excited about the last 3 on the list as they would appear to be 'mine' and fit in with the marriage you emailed copy of to me... The 15 year gap between the entries leads me to think that the first couple are a different family but keeping note of them 'just in case'...

Many thanks! :D  :D
