birth and babtism records

Hope some one can help.
I have downloaded batism records and civil birth records from the IFHF web site for a Patrick Duffy born in Roscommon  on the 9 March 1871 and the given address as Fairymount is this a village or a town?
Does anyone know what the difference is between a Church baptism record and a civil birth record.
On the church baptism record they have the mothers name as Mary McKeon parish/district as Kilbride
 On the civil birth record they have her name as Margaret McKeoan and the parish/district as Ballyleague.
Two different spellings for the mother name.
On the Family Search web site for the same family the childs name is given as Patritius Duffy  the fathers name is given as Patritio Duffy and the mothers name as Maria McKeon.
Was this common practice to spell names differently depending on their denomination.
The family were Roman catholic.

Fairymount is the name of the townland- in the civil parish of Kilgefin.
Roman Catholic registers for that period often used a Latin form of the names (such as Patritius for Patrick, Maria for Mary, etc.).
A baptismal record is a record of a church cerremony while a birth certificate is a civil registration of a birth.
I'm not familiar with that area of Roscommon but Kilbride (on the baptism) might be the name of the Catholic parish and Ballyleague on the birth certificate the registration sub-district (the registration district is Roscommon).

Sorry if this is too late to help - I've just spotted this query.  In response to the question about spelling of names - it was common practice until fairly recently for RC registers to Latinise the name, so Maria might actually be Mary or Maria on the birth certificate, Patricius might be Patrick or Padraig. Patricii refers to being the Father of x.  The Latin could be somewhat dodgy depending on how long it was since the priest had studied its grammar.
