marriage look up, Calder Bank, Old Monklands OPR's
« on: Friday 20 August 10 00:11 BST (UK) »
Hi,

don't go to any trouble but I'm looking for a marriage between George Bath (born Namlet? Somerset) and Ann Jones in Calder Bank in 1854 as i'd like to know who his parents were.
Mealor or Maelor from Neston area. Fellows in Black Country. Dennis in Flintshire and Wirral.  Shannon traced to Cockermouth, Cumbria.  Buckland traced i think back to 17th century Marmaduke Buckland in Bucks. Blower from Black Country and Middleton areas Lancashire.

The OPR's very rarely give parents names. Do you know when and where he died as his death certificate (Scotland) should give his parents names if known by the informant

George died in 1902 in New Monkland/Airdrie age 65.  If you go to Scotlands People you can access his death certificate extract online which should name his parents (as long as the informant knew).  Ann died there in 1910, age 73.

Sorry for the delay. Thanks so much both. I wouldn't have known to look on the death cert. And Jokdy that's really, really good of you.  I went to Scotlandspeople website today, and thought that i'd found him, clicked to look at the document as i had enough credits. It took 11 credits off but wouldn't let me view the image.  (Underneath the column headed 'image', it says view paid, but nothing happens.) I think i will email them. I'm hoping you haven't spent credits on there looking for my ancestor? if so i would i would like to reimburse your money spent. You mentioned there was a copy floating in cyber space, wink, and i think i have found it! thanks for the tip. (i am making a note to myself, ancestry.co.uk.) So his mother and father were another George Bath, and an Ann Stevens. He died on December 24th, what a day.
Thanks for you help.

Sarah

Hi Sarah

No worries about the SP credits, I only used a couple to check the one liner entries then stumbled upon the certificate on ancestry, so that was fortunate for you.

Yes - contact SP about the missing image.  That reminds me, I paid to view a certificate sometime ago and the image I got was for a completely different person - will have to contact them about it too.

Hi Jo,

thankyou very much. I registered with scotlands people back in 2001, and got a lot off there, then left it at that - George Bath, not realising that a death cert would give parents names. 8 yrs later i'm picking up the trail again, so thankyou for going to the trouble, and for the tip and also for the credits. I really do appreciate it.  (Some days ie today, when youve come up against silly people all day, a random act of kindness can restore your faith.) I remember now how quick those credits go down. I know it sounds daft (me being an amatuer) but if could help in any way with your tree i would like to. Youve probably already heard of the free cerdits you can get (10 i think) if you sign up with ancestral scotland's newsletter, but here is the link anyway.  http://www.ancestralscotland.com/newsletter/  Hope you find your image.
 And thanks again,
Sarah.
