Hello, Encinita...I've been researching my DAllow/Dalley family & had traced them to Worcestershire. A Google search for Hill End, Dodderhill, led me straight here & my questions about the place were answered. Was most interested to see you have a Causier ancestor as I had discovered a DAllow daughter, Sarah Rogers, had married a George William (Hy) Causier in 1898. In 1901 they were living at Hill End, Dodderhill, Droitwich, right next to her parents, in the house that had originally been occupied by her father's parents. Wonder if there's a connection? Maybe when I check out that website link I will find something about the Dallows or the Rogers families too. Certainly Henry Rogers seems to have lived in Hill End his whole life, & his parents for a long time before him.

Hi, Bramcor!  How nice to hear from you!  Yes, George is a common name among my Causier's and, especially given the Hill End address, I'm sure yours is connected to mine some how.  I have 4 George Causier's in my database, but none who could be yours.  I suspect that yours is a grandson or great-grandson of my William by his first wife, Leticia Willis.  Since my line is by his second wife, I have collected only scattered data on Letitia's descendants: usually when I was trying to keep all the area's Causier's straight!  If you'd like more data, just let me know; I'm glad to share!

Thanks, Encinita. Any follow-up of this George Causier will go on the back burner for now - got other, closer families to search for first. I found your blog shortly after posting here & have had a lovely time reading through it. You are so organised - especially love how you include your sources at the end of your posts. I had a quick look at the Worcestershire websites you mentioned here but think I'll need to look more carefully as I haven't really worked out how to use the bit that lets you look at tithe maps, etc. What I saw was so small I could barely read anything on them...& I didn't find anything that clearly showed where Hill End might be. Even the modern Google map didn't help much as the little orange man couldn't get close enough to where I wanted to see. Still, I think I now have a reasonable idea of where Hill End, Dodderhill, was/is. And delighted to learn that I must have passed by the area last year when I took a train trip to Ledbury from Birmingham. If I ever get back to the UK (I'm in Australia), I will have to make plans to see the Droitwich area up close.
Had no idea some people kept genealogy blogs...fabulous find...though no doubt I should be concentrating on research, lol.

Judy

Thank you, Judy, for your very kind words!  It's especially nice to know my blog is appreciated.  I know what you mean about discovering/reading genealogy blogs, too.  I really work hard at keeping to a minimum &/or as closely related to my research as possible.  I'm in California, USA, and have only been to England once.  I'd love to get to Hill End someday;  I'm jealous that you were that close!

I ran across the same reference. Many of my family records list Hill End as follows:
1851 Census of Dodderhill Parish,  Worcestershire, Borough of  Droitwich Sub district of Claines. #391 FHL-flm 87,455,30
Hill End # 21
Causier, William head age 54 married laborer  born Dodderhill/Worcester
Ann wife age 43 married born Dodderhill/Worcester
James son age 21 single laborer born Dodderhill/Worcester
Henry son age 19 single laborer  born in Dodderhill/Worcester
Charles son age 14 single laborer born in Dodderhill/Worcester
David son age 11 single laborer born in Stoke Prior/Worcester (note even children worked)
Emanuel son age 8 scholar born in Droitwich/Worcester  ( this record had to be a mistake of the census takers. This should                 read Manwella a daughter age 8)
Bennet, Elizabeth  6 niece scholar   Inliberty, Worcester (Elizabeth was actually William Causiers Grand Niece- the daughter of Sarah Causier and Robert Bennett)
William is living next to his son, William Causier and brother Sacherveril Causier

Hill End might be a lane with lodging houses which were numbered. And Baptisms usually stated Dodderhill Paris

I am decended from William Causier and Letitia Willis--they are my third Great Grandparents. I have 18 George Causier's in my data base. Give me more details and I will try to match you up :P ;D
