Hi, Yes mum says that William had quite a few medals, and that he was injured twice, once in WW1 & once in WW2, mum doesn't know which way round it was, but he was hit with sharpnel, and buried alive, they only got to him because someone saw his hand move, and apparently lost most of his friends/commarades. So, It looks like he rejoined again, the last time he was injured mum says was the beginning of WW2, and he never went back to the army then, as he used to suffer terrible nightmares, and attended Belfast Hospital periodically. Mum says she remembers him staying in the same regiment and moved around quite a bit......wherever the rest of the men went. Mum was adopted by William & Mary his wife by the way, and that is the reason that l can't get more info on him, she was infact his grand-daughter, so you can imagine the conflict to get any information from them.
Regards
Sue
Ps William joined the army in 1907, he would have been around 14.
