Albert Deveraux search
« on: Sunday 15 August 10 20:40 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am trying to trace my GUncle Albert Deveraux. He was born in Pembroke Dock Pembrokeshire in 1891. I can find him in the 1901 census but not the 1911. I alos cannot find a marriage certificate for him. I do have his death certificate which says he died in Swansea hospital 7 Jan 1957. He was a retired worker from the Mond mine. I would really like to find out if he ever married and if so had children. Does anyone know if there would be parish death records or cemetery records from the area. And if so could they contain next of kin information. I would love to find any family that he may have had. My grandmother (his sister) immigrated to Canada in 1924 as a mail order bride. I am unable to obtain any of these records on my own as I am in Canada.

Than you to anyone who may be able to help me.
Maggie

Hi Maggie

We can't help with the 1911 for copyright reasons.  Who registered the death?

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

There was an inquest into his death and the coroner for the are regiatered the death after the inquest. I tried the newspaper for the area and they could not help me. Also contacted the srchives if there were inquest records but those records were lost for that year.

No - he was living in Pembroke Dock in 1901 but his birthplace is Llanelly, Carmarthenshire which is why I could not find him previously

You will find him on the 1911 index as Albert DEVECREUX aged 19 and living in Llanelly Carmarthenshire

Thank you all for your help. This is great about the census info. I really would like to find out where he is buried. Does anybody have any ideas how I would go about finding out this info.

Thanks again

Not certain of the spelling but there was a Devereaux teaching at Oxford Street School (since demolished), Swansea in the 1960s. 'Dickie' we called him but whether that was his name (Richard?) I don't know! He taught art and craft, I think. I guess he'd be about mid 80s now?

Check the West Glamorgan Archive service website to see if they have any school log books with teacher's names etc.
