extremely confused
« on: Sunday 15 August 10 14:06 BST (UK) »
Hi there every one.

i was helping my sister in law to start her family tree and  came across some severe discrepancies in the amount of children her grand parents had this is because she is not sure of her grandmothers maiden name and has no family left to ask ??? ??? ???

her grandfather was James Woodhead born 23rd march 1914 and her grandmother was Mary ? born 5th august 1914

they lived in houghton le spring for as long as my sister in law can remember, not sure if the grandmother was born there but the grandfather was and they were definitely married in the area.

i realise this isn't much to go on but any help you can  offer would be great.

thanxs millions  in advance.

The easiest way to find out the grandmother's maiden name is to look up the birth of whichever of your sister-in-law's parents is relevant; the mother's maiden name will be indexed.

If you send me a PM with the details I can look it up for you, if that would help.

If you go to www.freebmd.org.uk and put in the surname and then mother's maiden name you may be lucky and find some of the children.  It is not full coverage yet though so it may mean trawling through the complete birth index which is on various paying sites.   We do not allow mention of any living people on rootschat so it is probably something you will have to do yourself.

Andrea

Hi Jojo,

My name is Angela and my maiden name was Warren.  My father was the brother of Mary, married to uncle Jim Woodhead.

As far as I know, there were Jim (Cowburn, took mother's maiden name as born out of wedlock), Lizzie, Mary, Emily, Maurice, John (my dad) and Dan.  Unfortunately I am not quite sure of the correct order of birth but all have now passed.

Aunty Mary and uncle Jim had quite a family including (and not quite sure of the order),

and Pauline (passed young from pneumonia I think).
All above are living so don't post any of the above please.

If you would like more information contact me so it could be private.

Cheers

Angela Irwin, New Zealand (nee Warren)
