I am in Perth next week for a couple of days so I will go in to order a death certificate (if my mother-in-law doesn't already have one) for Frederick Stanley. He was her grandfather so it's possible she has some documents or might know who else in the family has it.
I didn't know a death certificate would indicate length of time in Australia
Clifford - convict William Clifford 'Lady Nugent' 1835 - Gloucestershire
McDonnell - convict Manus McDonnell 'Parmelia' 1834 - Mayo, Ireland
Stanley - Frederick William, b Gisborne, New Zealand circa 1863
Flanagan - Margaret Cisely c1870-1944 Ireland to Queensland

Hi

The 1861 birth of a "William Frederick STANLEY", was registered at Nelson (at the top of the South Island - a long way from Gisborne).
[I suspect this may be the death for this man:    1937 - William Frederick STANLEY - 77 years - bc 1860  ??]

Thanks for the link. I have already ordered the Frederick william Stanley berith print out, so it will be interesting to see what it offers. Meanwhile, I'm visiting and interviewing my m-in-law next week. I'll see if she knows anything at all about her grandfather.
