1851/61 Look up please

I am still searching for Charles Lambert, father Joseph born c1849 in Guildford.  Although he gives his age as 28 on his marriage certificate in Dec.1875 by the time of the 1881 census he was only 31! Can anyone help me on this please

Are you certain that the 28 isn't a 25? .

Start with 1891/1901 lookup to see if his age is consistent with one or the other. Always cut&paste 1881 household for a census request.

Thanks for the advice.

I have checked the marriage certificate, 28 cannot be misread as he was married on Dec 25th and the 5 and the 8 are not at all similar unfortunately.

I have the ages from the census
1901 age 53
1891 age 42
1881 age 31
Dec 1875 age 28

Hi there,

Do you now have Charles and Joseph in 1851?

I am just checking old requests and find yours was never solved.

There is a Charles age 5 with parents Joseph and Mary Ann living in Guildford in 1851.Lots of brothers and sisters too
