Thank you all.

Looks like  this is going to take me a while to sort out. The  William  Edward Southouse Green death (or no death) in 1858 is one complication - coping with multiple Theresa Edith Greens takes it to an entirely new level.

Maybe I'll regroup for a while then tackle the William Edward ### Green end of things first. There is a strong likelihood (but no certainty) that William Edward Southouse Green and William Edward Catoir Green were one and the same person (and the father of Theresa Edith) - the dates and places and parentage seem right but ......

Oh well, every good puzzle has multiple entry and endpoints, doesn't it. I'll rethink my data and the possibilities and get back later.

Thanks again for all the contributions.

Hi Whitey

Can you change the Heading to Theresa Ellen GREENE? Every record in SA has her middle name as Ellen so in fact the Theresa Ellen GREEN born Romford (Essex) Dec 1/4 1859 4a 89 is more likely the lady in question.

I didn't see anyone mention the fact that Joshua DAVY and Theresa Ellen nee GREENE had four more children in NSW.

26767/1887  DAVY  Joshua B  at  MINMI
35770/1889  DAVY  Nellie M  at BROKEN HILL
8535/1892  DAVY  Rose A B  at BROKEN HILL
12496/1894  DAVY  Jessie M  at EDEN

Seeing the youngest named as Jessie M . . .
and the family named in the 1871 CENSUS posted in reply #7 . . .
as well as Theresa's death with parents named Edward and Mary A . . .
I conclude these facts cannot be a co-incidence.
Theresa Ellen nee GREENE born 1859 must surely be a sister to Jessie Martha nee GREENE born 1856 (in UK BMDs).

I am mindful there were a few Edward William GREENs but this one is more likely than a death in 1858.

Just noting re the 1851 census quoted how the two Eliza Pritchitt's relate to Theresa Green - her mother being Mary Ann Pritchitt, baptism and marriage being :

Baptisms St Martin Birmingham county of Warwick April 1825
1825 April 5th No 1209 born 16th November 1823
Mary Ann Daur of John Martha Pritchitt of Essex Street cabinet maker
0825 April 5th No 1210 born 2d February 1825
Emma Daur. of John Martha Pritchitt of Essex Street cabinet maker

1843 marriage St Mary Lambeth
No 373 10th December 1843
Edward William Green full age bachelor salesman of Princes Street
Father Edward Smithhouse Green ???????????  [I think should say Southhouse, but it looks like Smithhouse, and I can't make out his trade]
Mary Ann Pritchitt full age spinster of Princes Street
Father John Pritchitt brush manufacturer
in the presence of Charles ????pell, Eliza Pritchitt

Interesting to note the second witness is an Eliza. In the 1851 census the two Eliza's are her sister who was baptised St Philip Birmingham 17 April 1827 (Married Henry Swinburne 3rd June 1851) and fairly certain despite a slight age discrepancy, the other Eliza is her brother James Joseph Pritchitt's daughter :

Baptisms St Mary Newington Surrey 1844
Sep 8th born July 29th 1844 No 1027
Eliza Louisa D of James & Susan Pritchitt of Kent St brushmaker

I think likely the following is Theresa's mother and sister - on 8Jan1879 the immigrant ship Salisbury arrived in Adelaide, South Australia and amongst the passengers are:

Single Women
Mary Ann Green - domestic servant
Jessie Green - domestic servant

Theresa's other sister Ada Kate Southhouse Green had been in Australia for a year by then and information on Ada and her descendants can be found at http://bruerfamily.com.au/index.htm
Hillman (descendents of Thomas Hillman/Elizabeth Gasston); Wells (both family of Joseph Wells, firework artist and the Wells and Pritchett families); Cheese; Pack; and in East Yorkshire, Loft; Wise; Bradley; Harland; Hayton; Pamplin; Ulliott
