Having found the marriage of Henry W Mallard to Anne Minor 1878
I think the lineage is now going down on the maternal line.

Harry Mallard Minor was born in Daventry District
(covers Welton)  in the Sep Qtr of 1878.

It seems as though Henry W Mallard  is accepted as being the father.

I think maybe getting some proof might help.
