l'd like to add in now another branch of the family  (sparrow)   Mary elsie mallard (1904)married john charles sparrow(1895)            Sep 1937

l think john came from blisworth but can see no birth for northampton or surrounding or family members

There's a pic of George Mallard in 1918, in a civvy covered uniform on p59 of Fred Golby's 1992 book on the history of Duston
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Phil are you sure he didn't change his name around.

There is a Charles Sparrow in Far Cotton in Abbey Road on the 1901.

He is also noted as Charles John Sparrow elsewhere.

I have a 1928 directory for the Town, I will see if I can find him in it.

There does not seem to be an entry that is correct name
unless it is this one.

Charles Sparrow 7, Stimpson Avenue, although they may not
have paid to have an entry inserted.

hi
First off yes fred golby l remember him as a child he used to go drinking with my dad occasionally . he did have quite a few off my family photos . my auntie vera was a great collector of pictures etc,
and my uncle charlie was indeed john charles sparrow   . as far as l know he did live in blisworth a set of cottages on the left hand side as on the bend as you drive in to the village from northampton.

l will see if my brother or auntie has a death certificate for him.

l only know that  my auntie and him  brought my father up and they always lived on welford road  a large house on the  left hand side. l  also remember being told that my auntie was one iof the very first women to hold a driving licence (l shall not go into women driver etc!!!!)

Hi Phil.

I used to see Fred at Upton Church on Heritage Days, gosh we
are nearly at this years.

And I also lived in Welford Road as a child, the building was called
"Highfield House" children's home which got burnt down in later years.

From there we walked to Chris Sale's every Saturday with our sixpences
burning holes in our pockets.

For school we went to Chapel Brampton.

Then I also lived in a foster home in Kingsway until I was 13.
