Hi, Tony, yes you are correct the Nantwich Workhouse, later Barony Hospital and now the HQ of Cheshire East Community NHS Healthcare.  The main block is in use as offices. You would have to approach the Managing Director to see if you can view the premises.  I will post a link shortly.  None of the records are held on-site.  What remained were deposited with the Cheshire Local Studies and Archives.  There is a 100 year rule on many of these records and you would need to check with the archives if you can access the period you are interested in.  If you post on here details of the family and dates you  are looking at I may be able to help you.
Much of the site has been demolished but the following link will show you several of the buildings and a taste of the history.

Hi, Sorry I forgot to say welcome to Rootschat Tony.  This is the contact link for Cheshire East Community Healthcare:
http://www.cech.nhs.uk/
use the 'contact us' button on the left.  I suggest you note that the email is for the attention of Mr Ged Timson who is the Managing Director.
I would also suggest that your future posts on the site that are for a Cheshire query you put on the Cheshire Board, there are some fabulous people with a wealth of Cheshire knowledge who will be able to help you

Hi, Tony11, I have asked the Moderator to combine this thread with the one you posted on the Beginers Board, in this way you won't get repitition. If you are able to get to the Cheshire Archives at Chester they hold some records for the Nantwich Union Workhouse at the Barony Nantwich.  If this is not possible let me know and when I next go I will try and see if I can find anything on your ancestors.

HI thanks for the previous help, as i am unlikely to be up Cheshire way in the future i would appreciate any help researching the Lowe family. The 1901 census says Maria Lowe aged 45 was in the women's hospital in nantwich work house, and her sons john aged 11 and Harold aged 7 were also at the work house, any records you find would be most helpful, Thanks

Tony and family
