Hi Tony,
Found this for you:

1901 James Lowe was living at 3 Wharf Place, Monks Coppenhall with a boarder, Arthur Price.

1891 James and Maria were living at 16 Forge Street, Monks Coppenhall with 6 children, including John. Census ref. RG12/2851/43/28.

Note Monks Coppenhall later became the town of Crewe.

Hi again Tony,
Don't know if you have this but:

If you search on Ancestry for James Lowe born 1842 in Ireland the first item is the Kirby Family Tree which gives more info.

Hello Tony11,

Just to say that although you would need to obtain permission to go inside the buildings that comprised the former Nantwich Workhouse, it is possible to walk all around these freely. There is public access to this place and a footpath runs all through the buildings.

I have used this frequently and always loved to see the lovely buildings there. There are some old trees too, these include a mulberry tree which should be full of fruit about now!

Jo

Hi, Tony, sorry for the delay.  I checked in the Cheshire Archives for any records which would show in-patients or residents of the Nantwich Union.  Unfortunatley no records have been deposited with them that show the names of patients/residents.
Regards
Kathb
