Katr Pearson - lost sisters
« on: Friday 13 August 10 15:38 BST (UK) »
My gran - Kate Pearson born  Feb 1877 in Leeds was daughter of John Pearson born 1852 leeds and Elizoboth Charlotte Pearson - nee Everad born in London.   I have traced a long lost sister to Florence May born 1872 to Australia but I seem to remember another sister.  Florence May did not even know of Kate and her English siblings. John remarried in 1894 and adopted a son plus I believe his second wife's son but he never lived with his wife or young son William by his first marriage.  Can anyone help with Kate's lost sister born 1871 or later.  She did not live with gran or with her Pearson grandparents Robert and Catherine in Batley.

I can see Kate with her Mum Elizabeth and baby brother William in 1881
But not Dad - or Florence - have you got them in 1881?

Yes, I have Elizaboth, Kate aged 4 and baby William at 23 Rutland Road, Leeds.  The house was occupied by a second family - Elizabeth Stainton widow of William.  Gran also shows up married to Sam Gledhill on 1911 census as Kate Gleadhall - living in Wortley - a kind lady researched her for me - 1901 census is a mystery?  Her father  John Pearson and young adopted half brother Horace Carnell were living in Leeds with his new wife Fanny - nee Bellhouse.  G Gran Elizoboth died in 1894 and John who had been living with Fanny (down as his housekeeper on census) made an honest woman of her.
Gran Kate seems to disappear from her mothers death in 1894 until the researcher found her just off Whitehall road - spelt wrongly - in the 1911 census.  thank you for your interest.  I also have a post up looking for Horace Carnell her adopted half brother who may the the death registration of 1967.

I am a trifle confused as to what you are looking for !!

I thought it was Florence, alleged sister to Kate - born 1872. Thus I asked if you had her on 1881 census.
(Why do you think there is another daughter, FLorence?)

Elizabeh with children Kate (14) and William (10) are at RG12 3706 71 1 in 1891 - still no sign of a Florence.

In your second post the missing info is Kate in 1901. To follow this one up, can you tell us if you have got her marriage to Sam Gledhill (you say she is his wife by 1911) - when and where?

Ok, a bit more rummaging around and I see that Elizabeth Charlotte Evered and John pearson married jan/Feb/Mar 1872 in Leeds Reg District

There is a birth of a Florence Pearson reg in Leeds reg district in Oct/Nov/Dec 1872
Have you got this birth cert to prove she is a child of this marriage?

(just had red letters up - that looks good Heywood as they were into tailoring/dressmaking I think on a previous census)

Now... who is Florence - is she the lost sister who turns up in Australia and then do you think there should be another sister? (also lost)

The published tree shows Florence with her Pearson grandparents in 1881 RG11; Piece: 4517; Folio: 117; Page: 5. Are these the same Robert and Catherine?

They do seem to have an older son, John. 18 in 1871.
RG 10 4553 42 40

but whether they have other older children who could be Florence's parents ...?

only Florence's birth cert will confirm if she was a child of the John/Elizabeth Evered marriage
