when my great grandfather died his family did not know/fill in where he was born or who his parents were.as you know the scottish census age records are not exact giving him a birth date 1825/1835. i have no irish records. but i am going to dublin in september if you can tell me where and how to look it up
i also need help to get my message on the surname message board

First of all, to do any research in Ireland or with Irish records you need to know both the family's religion and where they lived (parish of not actual townland, not just the county or 'Ireland.).
Added to this the dates you need are well before civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages (1864)- from 1845 for non-Catholic marriages. In that case you need to search for church records which is why you need to know their religion and location. Also, many church records pre-1850s do not survive.
