Jane Jones (nee Nicholas) b. 1842 Ruabon
« on: Thursday 12 August 10 23:31 BST (UK) »

I am looking for the Nicholas family from Ruabon c. 1860, particularly JANE NICHOLAS b.1842, Ruabon, D/O John Nicholas, a collier. She married EDWARD JONES of Caergwrle at Hope Parich Church 25 Aug, 1860. They had 5 children; Mary b. 1862, John b.1865, David b. 1868, Margaret b.1871 and Sarah Jane b. 1872. Mary & John were born in Cergwrle, David & Margaret were born in Stoke-on-Trent, and Sarah Jane in Ashton in Makerfield. They then returned to live in Caergwrle and I believe that sometime between Sarah Jane's birth in 1872 and the 1881 census Jane died. This is my problem - I can't find her death.....can anyone help please?!
Many Thanks

Hello,

I was trying to find the family in 1881 and then found your other thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,474595.msg3340554.html#msg3340554
which explains a bit more. It will help avoid doubling up on information .

Could Jane have died in Lancashire?

Hi Heywood,

Many thanks for your input - I apologise for the doubling up of the request - but I'm new to this & very much a learner!!!

Everyone is so helpful....so THANKS to all!!

I've looked for her in Lancashire - but no joy there either........

I'll keep looking - but it's so frustrating!!

Thanks again,

Does your elimination process include the June quarter 1877, Prescot?

It's probably not her as there is at least one other Jane Jones in 1871 who could fit for this death  :(

Hi Heywood  :)

How did you think that Prescot might be a possible? I was looking for a Wigan death reg. for Ashton in Makerfield. i might have been wrong as I just used Genuki to check  ???

Jane Jones isn't that rare  :-\

Hi Gadget,

I do get mixed up between those places around Wigan/Widnes/St Helens but I had looked for a birth for Sarah Jane 1872  - and there was one in Prescot, but not Wigan  ::).
Therefore, wondering if this was her (and I realise it's more than likely not) perhaps her mother died soon afterwards and lo and behold there was a Prescot death. I put 2 and 2 together to make what in this case is probably not 4.
Since your query- I have seen a Sarah Jane birth in Wigan in 1873 which is perhaps the right one.

Apologies to all.  ;)

Hi Heywood

I'm always confused by that area as well - so did a check. It's most likely they would be in a coal mining area, I'd think.

One of my great uncles  went of to Atherton and then came back home with his children when his wife died so I'm thinking that finding out when he returned would give a good idea of her death date - but how  :-\

I've just checked the Rhosymedre burials  in case she was buried in the same graveyard as her parents but without a stone but there's nothing for that period.
