mexborough schools

Can anyone tell me if there were many schools in Mexborough circa 1922?
I visited Doncaster archives and searched through an admission book for Mexbro National school but didn't find the person that I was looking for. Although he didn't appear in the index, I searched the book from 1922 - 1924. The archives don't have any other books for this period and couldn't tell me if there were any other schools. It would be an infant school.
I am looking for any information on Joseph Cooper who was born in 1917 to Ada Cooper nee Holbrook and who died in Sep. 1924 aged 7, after an appendicitis operation in Mexbro Montague hospital.
As his mother had died in Jan 1924 aged 39 and he had no other relatives, I am also trying to find out who the person was who was present at his death and who lived at the same address of 2, Wilson Street, an  A. E. Fletcher. I believe this was a woman, as I think I have found her living in Armley on the 1911 census, again as just A.E. Fletcher.
I would also like to hear from anyone who might be connected to this person.

My family lived in Mexborough. The eldest of my Dad's siblings was born in 1910 and she attended Garden Street Infant and Junior School.

The boys attended Garden Street Infant school and then moved to Schofield Street Juniors - which seemed to be, but not sure, for boys only.

Added: The youngest born 1934 also attended Garden Street

Thanks Evie, Where did your  rellies live. I am looking for a school near to Wilson street, although I don't know where that was, as I am from Sheffield.
I have th eold Godfrey map but nothing  more modern.

My family lived in Raikes Street, I too am not familiar with the streets either. In 1911 Wilson Street was enumeration district 17, Raikes Street was in ED 20 but that doesn't help me decide how far apart they were to be honest.

However Garden Street presuming the school was on that street (I need to look into this further) was in ED 17 so probably nearer to Wilson Street than Raikes Street. All in theory at the moment though.

You could also try the newspapers for an obituary, some list the people who attended the funeral.

There are also electoral registers which are available at WYAS Wakefield.

I found this on another thread kindly found by SallyF. Someone was looking for Alfred Place. The route below is from the 1901 census

Listed as:

Main Street, on the north side, from Mr Shield's shops to Ivy Parade, Beaconsfield Street, Wood Street, Highfield House, Schofield Street, Catherine Street, Flowitt Street, Wilson Street, Alfred Place,  Simpson's Place, Red House and Lower Dolcliffe Road from Mrs Boyes House to Messrs. Bendelow and Bennett's.

I have had a look on google maps and Schofield Street, Flowitt Street and Simpson's Place are still there very near to Garden Street so it will give you an idea as to where the vicinty of Wilson Street was.

Type in Flowitt Street, Mexborough in the search, then choose any house number, when loaded go to the right and scroll down until you see the 1930 map, click on that and then when it loads click and it will zoom in slightly. You will see Wilson Street just sits below Flowitt Street

Some of those other streets are familiar to me as I have come across them on census while researchimg the family of Josephs mother, Ada Cooper. She and some of her family lived at some of them at various times in her rather chequered  life as a boarder, inbetween having various children to I assume a variety of fathers. She  was always referred to as a domestic housekeeper, but who knows.
