When asked my DOB for a membership form I said it was 17something. Other person replied I looked very well for a double centenarian.

you are googling, you see a website advertising Russian brides - and your first thought is: "I wonder if they have a marriage record for seaman John Smith who is on the 1881 census with wife Irena born in Russia"  ???
Please help me to help you by citing sources for information.

Having an episode of Inspector Morse on TV in the background and he says lots of Quakers were called "Endeavour" "Patience" or "Hope" and you think "I had an ancestor called Patience Brown, maybe she was a Quaker".

You are engrossed in finding out the baptism of someone who died 300 years ago that you forget to cook the dinner for the family who are shouting"Where is my dinner????".
