You talk to a room full of people about a mystery in your family tree for and hour, feel pleased with your effort and enthusiam

THEN

you get a flash back to the one man in the secomd row who was fast asleep after three minutes.

(It always happens! I keep going back though.)

I order death certs for all my direct ancestors—but only because I want to avoid their pitfalls.  My maternal g grandfather died of a fractured skull caused by falling down stairs while intoxicated.  I’ve avoided that particular fate by living in a one story house! ;)

I have a ggg uncle on my paternal side who also died after falling down stairs.

When I was in Yorkminster in September (before I knew that I had both maternal and paternal ancestors who had died from falling down stairs) I climbed all 200 and something steps to the top of the tower.  As I was coming back down the steps I had a sudden overwhelming terror of falling—and I’m now wondering if my ancestors were sending me a warning!?

I doubt it ... its just that there's a lot of steep steps there and having climbed that lot, your legs were probably giving out and protesting !
