...  volumes of records with ancestors all jumping out at me saying "here I am, what took you so long to find me!!!!"

Where are all those volumes of ancestors saying 'here I am ... you've found us' ??  I've never seen them !  My ancestors are all quietly hidden away, sniggering and cackling away to themselves 'Ha, ha ... she'll never find us ... '

Oh anything happen in a fantasy...I forgot to mention my fantasy also includes exact DOBs, correct spellings of names and complete records back to when Noah was a boy!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

How we love gravestone and wills, my wife finds it macabre.

I was over the moon where the brother of my ancestor left a will, (in addition to tantalising clues to the origins of the family)  wanted to specify that the bearers at his funeral were to have black silk hats, scarves, and gloves, one of the bearers was to wait behind and see his grave was filled in, and he was to have a funeral sermon preached the following Sunday

I know I'm addicted.  I limit myself to 4 certs a month.  Well at the begining of the year I ordered my 4 certs. @#@##!  they arived 4 days later!  I'm now counting the days down until the beginning of February and it's getting quite tense........

I'm guilty. Addiction is travelling 12,000 miles, then spending time soaked to the skin, goosebumps as big as duck eggs, purple lips....... I'll just check out one more gravestone....."

Now that is dedication AND obsession rolled into one

Totally addicted. I get a chance to go away without my kids once a year and it always involves some trip to cemeteries, archives, visiting relatives and asking questions and going through pictures. Yikes.

When I retired my wife thought I would be doing all the jobs I promised to do when I retired. How foolish!
Either I submit to counselling or, she has warned that the divorce papers would be sent via a reply on RootsChat.
