Last year the wife and I went to Studley specifically to go round a cemetry where some of her ancestors are buried.

This year we went to Bantry, County Cork, where her dad was from and spent about an hour going round the cemetry there, photographing all the tombstones with O'Mahony or O'Leary on them. Now I have to work out which ones are relatives.

I've just made contact with a second cousin who has lived near me for 40 years here in Toronto and we never knew about each other :o I know that seems strange but I was born in London and she was born in Glasgow and we both ended up here in Canada.

We are going to meet for the first time at the end of the month and I've already got loads of stuff for her side of the family tree. I hope she doesn't think I'm too strange and runs the other way   ;D ::)

ah cemeteries what a wonderful place to spend the day!! and add to the photo album, some people just don't understand why we get cross at cremations and all that ash scattering.

i think some of my most surprising finds have been wandering around cemetries, recently found an uncle his parents and grandparents and an assortment of family burried in a very small country cemetery, it answered alot of questions.

When the dinner burns, the washing machine floods the kitchen, when the grass comes up to your knees and nothing else matters but finding your ancestors and their side kicks.  And all you can think about are new branches to your tree.
