New York City Look-Up

Looking for the death of my Great-Aunt. Her name is Fannie London(maiden name Munro)
She was born in New Brunswick, Canada 1905. Married Sheldon London from Illinois, June 17 1922 in Maine. She moved to New York, New, York. I have her listed in the 1930 census





From what my Father said she died before her Mother who died in 1967.
Tried some Obits but no luck.

Hi - perhaps it would help to find her husband's obituary.  He died 4 Dec 1987 in Hollywood, Broward, Florida according to the SSDI (Social Security Death Index).

Have you checked for Fannie in the Social Security Death Index (free at rootsweb.com or familysearch.org) or the New York City death index (up to 1948) at www.italiangen.org?

Sheldon London death index shows he was born in New York. The census shows Illinois. Can't seem to find a Obit on him. I think it would be him. Dates would match. Fannie I saw a death index that shows death in 1976 and birth of 1911  But what I see at the sites don't have a maiden name on them so not sure if it is her.Can't seem to find a obit on her thou.  Would like to find the obit on her. Thou it has her been born in New York and she was born in New Brunswick. She is being a tough one to track down

The SSDI was issued in New York but that does'nt necessarily mean he was born there. 

Have just seen an anc..try tree which says he was born in Canada

A son that would not appear on the 1930 census - Robert was born 7 Nov 1932 Manhattan and died Feb 1980 in Bronx County, New York. Married to a Murphy.

The Social Security system didn't begin until the early 1930's, so the only thing that the state that the Social Security number was issued in would show was that he lived in New York some time between the early 1930's and his death.  Considering that Sheldon was in New York as of the 1930 Census, that seems to make sense.

Most obituaries are not online.  There is a volunteer in Broward Co., Florida on www.raogk.org who does obituary look-ups.  Sheldon's might mention if Fannie was deceased and possibly when she died.
