Edward Acton is mentioned several times in The Real Mrs Beeton: the story of Eliza Acton by Sheila Hardy. It was published in October 2011, there is a family tree in the appendix, his father was John Acton the brewer.

Hi I live in Edward Acton's house in Grundisburgh on The Street. We dug up some of his antiques in the garden last year! You are welcome to visit if you are local. We have the deeds which belonged to Edward and Sophia. I think one of his children had an antiques shop in Brighton from memory.

Rgds

Hi Andrew

I was doing the tree for a couple of friends who were direct descendants from Edward and Sophia (who incidentally married at the Tower of London) and their son in Brighton.  They actually live in Sussex and I live in Wales, so a trip would be quite a hike, but thanks for the offer.  Edward was an Apothecary and they have his certification from London.  Sophia was the daughter of the Bishop of Portsmouth - quite a family.

Best wishes

Jenny

Hi,     - A newbie here -

If anyone has any information on Sophie Appleford Lewis Acton (nee Woolls) I would be very grateful.

I know Sophies father was the 2nd Vicar of Farham (& his father was the 1st Vicar of Fareham)

However, Sophies Father, "John Aubrey Woolls" (obt 22 March 1811 age 58) His 1st Wife was also an ACTON ...... All I have is "1st wife ACTON of Dorsetshire".

I am also interested in the 1st wife line going back. I think this must be an interesting line as there are many interesting people in this tree.

This is not Sophies Mother that was "Mary Martha Hewlett"

Many thanks
Lisa
