I got a HD recorder with freeview on it so I could record the series because I forget too... I works brilliantly!

I've got 2 Freeview recorders - I just forget to set them!  I wish they had a function to record a whole series like the Sky boxes do!   :(
Bill

Just noticed that the Freeview/Freesat recorder* on my Panasonic Viera TV doesn't have a 'series link' function, but it has a function where you can set a recording to record on a daily or weekly basis, at the same time and channel.

*Actually it's a recording function which works when you plug a USB hard drive into the USB socket on the TV.
RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Missed this in August so was interested to see it this morning. A very interesting story, but what made the episode for me was the part that dealt with Retford as I live not 1/2 a mile from St Saviour's church. It was good seeing somewhere I know so well on the TV .

My Panasonic Freeview recorder likes to record every single  edition, when set to record a whole series. So you get all the repeats too!

Yeah!  I bought one of those, so now I just have to remember to set it for the first programme in the series!

Only trouble is, it doesn't have a dual tuner so, if I am away, when it's on my daughter won't be able to watch TV while it's recording!  .......  grrrrrr!!!

I get the repeats too but at least if you look via the info button you know you can delete those without looking at them... I use the standby button and watch the tv (cos thats got freeview too) if theres something else I want to watch.. Found that out by accident one day!  ;D

Did anyone manage to find out what Ann HODGE's maiden name was.

One of the sons who went to NZ died in 1932, Henry Kirke HODGE.

Hi,
I went on G....e typed Monty Don WDYTA then clicked on Daily Mail site(4th item down)and there was an article with write up of programme dated 30 July 10 and at the very end of the article it states that one final story which never made the programme was about Ann Hodge.
Through her Scottish Erskine ancestory which dates back to Sir Alexander Erskine of Gogar, guardian to James 1st of England whom he brought up at Stirling Castle. It turned out Monty Don is related to his first wifes first husband.
