I enjoyed this episode too.  Mind you I kept shouting at the screen GO TO NZ and find out more about ANN!  Did she marry again and what happened to here over there....

The death of an Ann HODGE (76) was registered in NZ in 1890.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thanks for that Geoff.  I wonder if she made the newspapers or anything there....

I found this the most interesting so far in this series and, unlike many programmes that run to several series, WDYTYA seems to be getting better!
I just wish I could remember to switch it on so I didn't have to rely on iPlayer to catch it!

I got a HD recorder with freeview on it so I could record the series because I forget too... I works brilliantly!

I can't say that this was a good episode for me.  Monty Don kept mumbling - despite rewinding, I still couldn't make out what happened to his brother and sister.  The story was 'fairly' interesting, but I suppose Dervla is a tough act to follow  :)

This really made me laugh. My daughter and I rewound this part about 5 times trying to work out what he said, we thought he said. my brother and sister had a car bunken and all sorts of other weird things, eventually we realised he said "Car crash"

Only now have I managed to see this episode, excellent all round.

I did pause play at one stage and read some of the typed material, (was it the part of the service after the death of Rev. Hodge?) did I spot something about Ann Hodge having a relative in New Zealand?  did she go out to join up with some other family member there?  or could she have been there before her marriage?  I think more could be teased out on her story, what her maiden name was and where she came from?  Surely she must have had some particular reason to go out to New Zealand.

I dont think there are any New Zealand censuses to help us.

I've got 2 Freeview recorders - I just forget to set them!  I wish they had a function to record a whole series like the Sky boxes do!   :(

Have to admit we did that as well and also rewound it a long way back so that subtitles would work (sky seems to take a while to realise you want to read what's being said!) and then still had to replay a couple more times! We ended up about 10 mins behind with all our messing about but a good episode.
