Bridget Teresa Walsh
« on: Sunday 08 August 10 18:04 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on my great grandmother Bridget Teresa Walsh born 1856 somewhere in County Clare. She left Ireand for the US and reports her arrival date on the 1900 US census as 1879, and probably landed at Boston Harbor, since she settled ultimately in Worcester, Massachusetts. She met and married (1881) Thomas Francis Barry in Worcester and they produced at least  12 children although only eight lived past infancy. Their names, given the penchant for naming children after relatives might help pinpoint the family: Marion, Ella, Evelyn, Francis, Rita (possibly Margareta), Arthur, Lucy, and William. I realize her name is extremely common, but any clue would help. Thanks

OOPS. Got her birth year mixed up with Thomas Barry. "Bridey" was born 1859, immigrated 1879. Her son Arthur was a notorious "second story man" (house burglar) in the 1920s, operating in the wealthier areas in and  around New York City. He was the subject of a feature article in "Life Magazine" in 1956.
