Ice-cream seller
« on: Sunday 08 August 10 00:40 BST (UK) »
Here's a lovely scene, looks like a school yard with most playing in a sand pit whilst one little girl is set on selling icecream.

I would appreciate image improvement if possible.

Thanks, Roy

Looking at the small boy at the back with his coat open showing a sort of jersey with striped tie
I would say 1930`s but that article of clothing was worn when I was at primary school in the 1940`s. It was a grey harsh knitted garment with a striped  knitted tie combined.Look at any school photo of those years and many boys wore them --they may even have been a wartime " utility" garment in which case 1940`s
what a lovely photo, I have one of a Wall`s Ice Cream seller--full size! where the cart is attached to a tricycle " Stop Me And Buy One "  Viktoria.

Thanks Em and I agree, it is a lovely photo, the same of it I don't know any of the childrens names.  All the photos I am posting on RootsChat have been loaned to me, some in a terrible state, but thanks to members kindness they are being repaired.  I love these old photos, such care was taken by the early photographers, they seem to capture the person far better than the quick snapshot we tend to get today.

Many thanks for your help, Roy

The jersey is called a jerkin & the wearer went on to form Simply Red.

My thanks to Viktoria, Em, Pechio, Jim, Caz and Niksmum for your efforts on this photo; and I liked the idea of Simply Red

Kind regards
