I have collected photographed and researched the stories behind the family and offical headstones of military and ex military serving and ex-serving personal both men and women who travelled from all over the world to gain some connection with the county of Pembrokeshire, and relate to most conflicts from 1722 through Africa, Afghanistan, Burma, 1800’s Waterloo, Kafir, Crimea, Indian Mutiny, 2nd Afgan, Zulu, Boer, 1900’s Boer, WW 1 & 2. Not to mention all the non conflict accidents suffered such as falling from trains, lost under landslide, hit by lorry, fell from fire tender, drowned in cave etc etc.
My database currently consists of ;
• 2,500 photographed headstones covering the years of 1722 to 2004 with related background research.
• In addition to the above ~ 300 references to personal and ex personal whom I have found had some connection to the county but are buried else where from Canada to the States to Europe to Asia, with my related background research.
• In addition to the above ~ 430 references worldwide to known deaths of service personal connected to the county but for whom a headstone has not yet been located.
• In addition to the above ~ 100 references listed on Cenotaphs or Memorials, with limited research as I have no interest in Cenotaphs as none of them contain the vast majority of the servicemen in my database.
In total then some 3,400+ named references.
If you believe I may have a specific reference to someone who had some connection with the county ~ awarded VC or any other award or passed through Pembrokeshire just on postings or just died in an accident unrelated to any conflict, I can freely supply what I have to help your research.
Whilst I have visited and photographed over 80% of Churchyards, chapelyards and cemeteries in the county and its related border parishes, this is an ongoing project with additions and updates being amended almost daily.
