Thankyou all. As to the uniform colour, one of you will be right, the only clue is the badge which is on the wrong side to see it properly.
I will try re-posting on the armed forces page. :)

Tunic buttoned the wrong side and that white wotsit (Lanyard ?) is usually on the person's left isn't it ?  :-\

I think its the right way round. If you look at the picture I have posted in the "army or air force" thread in the Armed Forces section you will se the lanyard on the same side. That photo is the right way round as can be seen by the ATS badge on the shoulder.
