John Arthur STEELE(1887 - 1969) *COMPLETED*

Trying to trace the ancestors of John Steele,younger brother of my grandmother.
 The Steele family moved to NZ during the 1880,altho' I can't find specific records of this.
John married Alice Bailey in 1914 and they resided in Auckland.

 Any further info greatly appreciated.

Can you post details of the names, birthyears and birthplaces of any siblings you know of -your grandmother being one of them

There is a John A Steele arriving Auckland 4th Jan 1918
he is a Sgt in the NZ forces,so probably returning from WW1

There is also a 1969 probate for him at Auckland Archives

And for his wife Mary Alice STEELE there is a probate in Auckland plus a coroner's inquest report in Wellington.......

Hey Milt,

John Arthur Steele is my Great Grand Father. He and Alice had 3 Children (Joan, [John] Trevor, and ^(*)).

^(*) is still alive (at 85) still living in New Zealand. She will be attending my Wedding in November in Australia.

I was able to track back as far as John Arthur online however I think his father changed the families last name from "Steel" to "Steele" which has made tracking further back a bit harder.

Would love to chat to you more about this

          Wonderful to hear from you especially as  your great grandfather is the one I have been after as his children you list -Joan,Trevor and ^(*) -are people my mother talked about  and/or had  contact with in the past
