Healeys from Witney oxfordshire
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 08:03 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find William Healey born 1803 in witney who was married to Hannah 1804
they are on the 1841 census but can find no trace of them previous to then,no trace of them on the family search site either
They seam to have had 16 children going by the census but 2  census list 2 children as grandchildren but i think there maybe more
I am esp interested in susan Healey born 1828 witney  not sure if she is a daughter or married a Healey who maybe was called James
,Healey has been spelt a few different ways ,i have found Hesley,Haley,Heeley are a few
thank you
Anna

Anna - could these be them?
Witney St. Mary
Marriage 15 Sept 1823 William Healey to Hannah Harris (x) Hailey
Wits: John Townsend (x), Mary A
nn George (x)  (Sorry - no other info there)
Presuming this is the correct marriage then the baptisms of the children are:
William Healey 13 June 1824 s. William & Hannah Weaver
Jane Healey 14 Aug 1825 d. of ditto
Charlotte 11 March 1827 d. of ditto
Susanna 12 oct 1828 d. of ditto
George 4 July 1830 s. of ditto
Jesse 22 Apr 1832 s of ditto
Anne 25 Sug 1833 d of ditto
James 15 Feb 1835 s. of ditto
Alice 22 May 1836 d of ditto
Alice Leah 6 Oct 1839 d of William & Hannah Lab  (? - maybe a co-incidence)
Mary (Hedley(?)) 11 Apr 1841 d of William & Hannah Weaver
Edward 12 Mar 1843 s of ditto
.. to be continued

Hi Anna ...

Having checked all variants of the HEALEY surname, this is the only likely marriage on the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837):

15 SEP 1823 - William HEALEY (of Hailey) to Hannah HARRIS at Witney

There is a Susan HEALY (born c1829 in Witney) who appears on the 1851 census as an unmarried servant in Oxford, but there's also a Susan HEALEY who marries in 1850 in Henley RD.  The groom is either George LAMBOURNE or Thomas TILLING, but I have been unable to find Susan as the wife of either of these on the 1851 census.

... cont'd
Samuel 26 Oct 1845 s of Willam & Hannah Weaver
Mark (Hailey) 30 July 1848 s, of ditto

Also found Henry Thomas 28 June 1847 s. of Susannah Healey

I suppose I really should have checked the 1841 census in case I have got the wrong family!  Still, it's kept me out of mischief!

Sorry - me again!

Missed off John Harris Healey baptised 5 Nov 1837 and Ruth baptised 2 June 1850.

Also found a burial for Alice Hailey aged 2yrs on 1 Nov 1837, which maybe Alice bap 22/5/1836 - and that could be why the next child was named Alice Leah.

Hi Thank you Polly and Pennie
yes this is the Family ,the 1841 census had them under a different surname Hoesley/Hailey ,they have all the family down to Mary except William
,Susanna is Susan but in the 1851 census Edward,Samuel,Mark,Henryand Ruth are added  but Mark is his Grandson which could be a mistake as in the 1861 census Henry is his Grandson which would be right as his Mother is Susannah Healey it doesn't look like she was married

Thanks this has put me on the right track
Anna
