Hi Kerry,

James Mackay aka Jimmy GLOVER of Drury Lane fame had on older brother named Michael, a musician, and a younger sister named Mary, a Harpist i have no dates......

The 3 children of William Frederick** & Marion Edwards were....

Winifred Marion 1877-1973
Catherine 1878-196?
Robert Ferdinand 1879-1970

How are you connected with these GLOVERs ..... as for me mine is tenuous - Jimmy GLOVER discussed in his book a famous at he time theatre fire in Dublin wherein the manager Henry EGERTON perished and JMG goes onto mention that Henry's wife was a distant relation. Henry or EGERTON's wife, Georgiana was my gt grandfathers sister.

I have found no connection yet nor have i found JWG's parents

Robert

** you have him as Frederick but my source has him as Ferdinand

Hi Robert,

That's really fantastic!! thanks so much for the picture of JWG!! Its really amazing!!! It is really lovely to see the names to go with face!

Right, I better put ALL of the info I have got on the Glover family.

John William and his wife Catherine nee Wade.
Their children in the order (so far as I know)

Ferdinand Glover (B1836 Dublin. died in the Hall in Dublin on 22 April 1859)

Elizabeth Glover (B1840 Dublin, died in New York, 30 Dec 1910) she was married to Daniel O'Sullivan and had 6 children (all children born in Missouri, USA and moved to New York, USA) Two of their daughters were opera or choir singers.

Mary Glover (birthyear unknown in Dublin) married James Mackay. had two sons Jimmy and now you have given another son's name Michael. Mary's husband James disappeared after he got out of prison? in Jimmy's book, his father was exiled to Jersey? Mary's death is unknown same goes for her husband James.

Madeline Glover known as Lina or Lena (B1847 Dublin died sept 1929 in London, England) she was married to Arthur William Gedge and had no children. Her husband died in Southampton.England. He had the will and left the money to his niece Catherine Glover, who was the daughter of William Ferdinand Glover.

Emilie Glover (B1848 died in New York on 1 Oct 1917) She married Samuel Grey in England. no children

William Ferdinand Glover (B1851 Dublin, Died 28th Oct 1917 New York, USA. He died of pneumonia. He married Marion Edwards. They had 3 children: Winifred Marion Theresa Glover, Robert Ferdinand Glover and Catherine Lilian Gladys Glover.

Winifred Glover was the one that I am related to by marriage as she was married to Thomas Marley Wood, they had 3 sons. One of their sons David Earle Wood had a son Colin Voce Wood who is my uncle.

My Uncle Colin was Prof. J.W Glover's Great Great Grandson.
My Uncle Colin doesn't know anything about this family, my aunt, his wife asked me to research his family tree and I told her what I have found and she asked me to do the book for my Uncle for Christmas this year as a surprise!

You mentioned the book Jimmy did, was that called "Jimmy and his friends"? Jimmy mentioned first wife, who was she? she died didn't she? then Jimmy married again to Kathleen Collins? Jimmy mentioned a son from 1st marriage?

You have made my day, I think its brilliant to see the picture of JWG. Its really wonderful! thanks so much!

Jimmy's brother Michael was an musician too? what did he do? where was he? did Michael have Ferdinand as in his middle name? I will try to find Michael and his sister Mary.
Jimmy mentioned two aunts? they were musicians too weren't they?

Thank you so much you have been brilliant help!
Best Wishes
Kerry

Hello,  While clearing out my late Aunt's house I came across a copy of Moore's Melodies edited by John William Glover c.1859.  The 1901 Irish Census has a Maria Glover, Widow, aged 82 living in Dublin, you can access the website on www.nationalarchives.ie.  I am currently doing researching my own tree and will try to get a copy of John Williams death certificate and forward it to you.  Good luck with your research.

Hi,

I got the following info on www.irishgenealogy.ie

John William Glover married Catherine Matilda Wade 28th April 1832 in St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin

There is also the baptism of a John Glover on 27th June 1813 in St. Michael & John's Church Dublin - Parents Thomas Glover and Teresa Wade (possibly the John that you are looking for ??)

If you think this may be him I also saw a sister called Teresa !

Magdalene Catherine Glover was baptised 12th January 1847 in St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin
William Frederick Glover was baptised 30th September 1849 in St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin
Eliza Glover was baptised 25th January 1833 in St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin
Emilia Teresa Glover was baptised 22nd September 1848 in Rathmines Church Dublin

Mary Jane Glover married James Mackey 23rd July 1860 in St. Andrew's Church Dublin

James John Mackey was baptised 18th June 1861 St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin
Michael John Mackey was baptised 4th July 1862 St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Dublin
(William and Magdalena Glover were godparents at this christening)

Hope this is of some use

Tara
