Italian Relative
« on: Saturday 31 July 10 09:26 BST (UK) »
Hi all, this is my first posting so I'm hoping that it's in the right forum. My wife's relative came to the UK sometime in the early to mid 1800's originally from, we think, Tuscany in Italy, I can find him on the 1851,1871 & 1881 censuses but not the 1861or earlier than the 1851 censuses, probably not unusual. I have tried checking passenger lists but can find nothing. His name was Pietro Pieraccini and his DOB was 1807, any direction to go would be appreciated.

Hi Spannerman and welcome (and hi Tati :))

Have you got his marriage(s)?

Somebody online has his first marriage as being to Margaret BRADY, 29 Nov 1829, St Nicholas Liverpool.

Margaret P seems to have been around until 1874 (death Jun qtr 1874 Camberwell aged 70) notwithstanding Pietro having "moved on" to Mary Ann by the time he went through a ceremony of marriage with her in 1868.

Pietro is also credited on online trees with the paternity of Joseph (Bastock) Pieraccini (registered Mar qtr 1850 Birmingham simply as Joseph Pieraccini) - mother being, apparently, a Hannah or Ann Bastock.

Matches the 1851 census where Ann Bostock is lodging with Pietro. Don't you think she's also likely to be the one shown as his wife in 1861, Anna?  :)

Agreed.  I'm being a bit slow on the uptake this morning ;)

I think this is likely to be the family in 1841:

1841 census: HO107/562/2/35/62
Cowhall St, Liverpool

Peter PEARAGENEY 40 Tailor Foreign Parts
Peter do 9
Margaret do 30
Mary do 6
Do do [female] 6 months*

all born in county (Lancashire) except Peter snr

*The child enumerated as Do do I think is likely to be Josephine Pieraccini, b Liverpool Dec qtr 1840, died Liverpool Mar qtr 1842.
