Hi Evie and Mike

Just having a quick look before work time.  Wow lots of information to sift through,  hopefully not busy at work so I can go through it.  Thankyou for this, I am so excited you have no idea, I cant wait to start on the other half of the names (Norman) but its going to be just as tough.  I have to say without people like you assisting people like me would give up.

thank you again

Just a quick suggestion; - when looking further back than the records you already have, try to think laterally about the spelling of the name ... because "Readman" is one of the alternatives I've already found for the Redmaynes in my tree (they were Lancashire/Yorkshire).  Others were Redmain, Redman, Redmon, Reidmon, Readmyne, Reedmayne ... the list seems to go on and on!
 ;)
I live in Sydney, Australia, and I'm researching: Powell, Tatham, Dunbar, Dixon, Mackwood, Kinnear, Mitchell, Morgan, Delves, & Anderson

I agree Deb, variations of spelling must be considered.

As Elizabeth and her siblings were living alone in 1891 I wondered where their parents were.

Barbara Jackson looks as though she may have died approx age 38 in 1886 Gateshead district, 10a 453

Couldn't find a suitable death for Henry but found a prisioner at Durham, Elvetham who was a widower aged 44 from Newcastle, occupation machine Castings Moulder. RG12, 4102, 124, 5.

In 1901 Henry appears for definite, remarried

RG13, 4755, 141, 34

3 Brunswick Terrace, Gateshead

Henry, 52, Head, Newcastle, Iron Moulder
Elizabeth, 51, Wife, Durham
Maggie, 17, Daug, Gateshead
Jessie, 20, Daug, Gateshead, Nail Factory Machinist
Lily Jackson, 14, Daug, Gateshead

In fact Lily was his step daughter. Henry I believe married Elizabeth Wight (White) (this is her married name not maiden name) 1894 Gateshead who was a widow in the 1891 census living with Lily.
