1841/51 Bath request for William BAILEY
« on: Friday 30 July 10 22:08 BST (UK) »
hi all:
To avoid any possible duplication, let me say i already have a Hampshire thread for his son Albert, which identifies William Bailey as born, Bath, Somerset, 1821.
Again to avoid duplicating any volunteers much appreciated help, i am only looking for info on William Bailey and any parents prior to 1854.

1821.....William Bailey b. Bath

1854..... m. Harriet Woods, Southampton, Hants

1861.... living with Harriet & kids in Southampton

1871..... Living with Harriet & kids, Southampton

1873.... possible death in Southampton

Very many thanks!

thanks for the reply...

He was a labourer.....

Not a unique trade, so i fear in may not narrow the suspect list.

Thanks!

He married in Southampton 1854, but I'm not sure when he arrived there from Bath

ouch how frustrating!

I mean, a shortlist of 2 is a vast improvement than where  i was this morning.

I'm trying to think of factors to separate the 2 candidates

Thanks for the data!

ideally, one of the William's would still be in Bath (or passed away...yikes) after 1854 thereby eliminating himself as we know 'my' William was in Southampton then.

This is very dificult as neither of these were given with any families and such  common forenames and surnames.   Also in 1841 those over 15 years old were rounded down, so I will give you those I have found in places that when registration began in 1837  came under Bath.

If your Wm had any children there are sometimes some clues  by the tradition of the times naming them after parents or siblings.

All taken from FreeREG
