Rawding's of Newark
« on: Friday 01 April 05 20:41 BST (UK) »
Could anyone in the Newark area possibly do a look up for me,around 1841/51 census times.
I'm trying to find Francis Rawding & his family, and as his son was born in Newark?1842,and he himself died there,I might just get lucky!!
Thanks,Phil.

Hi Phil.

To get the best results, this topic really needs moving to Nottinghamshire lookup requests. However ...

Found this family in 1851 in Besthorpe (a village just outside Newark). If they aren't yours then if you could let me know Francis' age and the son's name, then I'll have another look :)

HO107 2136 156 14/15
Besthorpe
Francis Rawden head 50 ag labourer Lincs Brant Broughton
Ann wife 38 Notts east Markham
Mary dau 15 Besthorpe (as were all children)
Charles son 12 employed in farming
John son 9
Isaac son 5
Allin son 3
Fanny dau 2
Thomas son 2 months

Several of the children appear on the Notts baptism disk and the surname varies between Rawdon and Rawding.
Nottinghamshire: Willmott, Williams, Oldham, Padgett, Burden, Stokes, Huskinson, Tuckwood, Morley, Barnett

Hello everyone, new to this so excuse any mistakes.

I too am looking at the Rawding family. My interest is in William Rawding born Brant Broughton Lincs 1806 He married Isabella Hands from Southwell and they lived in Cross Guns Yd Newark in 1841. I think his parents were Francis and Mary . William and Isabell had 4 Children who were born in Caythorpe Lincs Mary, Isabella, William(dided in infancy) and Emma, before they moved to Newark. I wondered if anyone had managed to sort out the relationships of this family?

Hi I have actually sent you a message through Genes we have had prior contact about the Bentleys. I have asked for you to let me see your tree but I already have access. I have looked up your Rawdings and you have a different birth date up there for William. Now looking at my tree with the earlier birthdate I find him!!!Emma Rawding married Michael Bentley he was the brother of Frederick Bentley who was the 2nd husband of my 3x gt grandmother Ann Callis Judson phew .I have not as yet tied your William in with my lot yet...

Hi,hope you don't mind my joining in on your family-tree interest, but i'm the chap who first mentioned the Rawdings.
You said you have an interest in William, who's parents were Francis and Mary.
I have'nt got quite got that far back yet,but from notes there is a couple in my tree of the same names.
It's interesting the amount of times the surname changes,I've had Rawding,Rawdin,Rawden, and todays version,Rowding.
We could be related if we go back far enough.
I'd certainly be interested in any info you may have collected on your travels.
cheers Phil.
