I'm looking for information about this family who lived in the Eaglesham area in the 17th century and some of whom eventually emigrated to N. Ireland and then to the U.S. In some court records I found a Robert Withrow who encited a bunch of folks to physically oust a minister from the kirk there one day. This Robert was sentenced to spend time in the jail (tollbooth?) in Edinburgh sometime in the mid 1600s. While this does sound like a member of my family (apparently we have been rabble rousers for a number of generations), I have been unable to find family info for him or our earliest known ancestors, Robert Withrow b. 1692 or his wife Jennet, who ended up in the Pennsylvania region of the U.S.
If you have any early info on this family, I would like to get in touch with you. Also, this family moved to North Carolina in the early 1700s along with members of the Gettys (Geddes), Rankin, Carson and Brandon families with whom they may have been previously associated.
Thank you.
