Hi Sue n Jonbro,

Im sorry the only picture I have is the one Ive already posted Ive lived in England all my life only ever visited Fallin once back in the 60s Jonbro did say he was going to talk with other family members perhaps he may be able to get a few more photos As for the stories lets put it this way Ned was a bit of a character and they involve pubs and money There is one story in the book about Neds return from WW1 involving the Goth

Don't remember much about my gran but Ned certainly lived with Belle for a lot of years.

Sorry Ned died 1972 he was my G- granddad & Jonbro Granddad my Dad was Jonbros brother these stories are from family I only met Ned once back in the 60s
when I was about 8 or 9 & of course he was just another relative to me then but I can tell you if he was still here I would be pestering him with recorder in hand

The colliery at Fallin was Polmaise very militant throughout the miners strike if you google Polmaise there is quite a bit of info out there. It also gives you a sense of the conditions they were made to work in pre nationalisation. You will find lists of those miners killed in accidents it also gives their ages really sad when you read the lists.

Thx Jon, didnt know this was also called Polmaise.  I got a little book from Stirling Library called Fallin, tales from a mining village, by Hugh Kerr, some interesting stuff in there.  My great aunt, Eleanor Fowler, was supposed to be active in the miners movement, so will check out all I can on the Web.

You got any photos of the ppl or Colliery, particularly of the Blocks?  Love to share.  Kathy
