Sheffield Census Look Up
« on: Thursday 29 July 10 20:11 BST (UK) »
I'm going to Sheffield Archives on saturday.

I've been advised it will be easier for me to locate burial records if I know which Parish the below people lived at.

Can anyone help by checking the census records and advising of the parish any of the below people lived in

Frederick Rhodes Starr  1864 - 1938 @ Jane Starr ? - 1938
Thomas Flower Starr 1838 - 1870 @ Elizabeth Starr 1835 - ?
Abraham Starr 1812 - 1852 @ Ann Starr 1808 - 1874

Hi
I have found Abraham (umbrella Maker) in 1851 at 32 Division Street Sheffield it says Ecclesiastical  district of Carrun Street (I think it is 'Carrun' but the scan is really not clear)

Just off to see if I can see the others

burials at St Mary's Bramall Lane:

STARR Abraham 19 Apr 1852 11y Rockingham St
STARR Ann 8 Jul 1874  63y Upperthorpe
STARR Charles 25 Jan 1866 25y Division St
STARR Olive 20 Jun 1854 8y Division St
STARR Thomas 6 Feb 1870 39y Brightside
[name/date of burial/age/residence]

Since this Abraham was only 11, maybe he is a son of the Abraham born 1812. Are you confusing his death entry for the older Abraham? (or maybe his age is an error)

The Ecclesiastical district is Carver Street, which is St Matthew's. Though I am not sure the church was open in 1851. The ecclesiastical districts in Sheffield were created in 1846 but some did not acquire churches for some time.

You are correct Hugh...St Matthew Carver Street was erected in 1855 and the registers commence in 1855.

There are no burial registers for this church.
