Completed. Thanks.Norton Removal Tool - in a bit of a quandry, advise please.

Hi,

In July last year I experienced great difficulty in installing 'Norton 2009'.
Symantec installed it remotely for me eventually and during the process they also installed the Norton Removal Tool.

This month my 12 months ran out and I purchased and successfully installed 'Norton 2010'.

Will the Norton Removal Tool have removed all the old Norton bits, during the installation of 'Norton 2010?

I've just clicked on the NRT icon and it opened up a long list of Norton 'bits'.

Does this mean that they are still in my PC?

Also, if they are still there & I click o.k for it to uninstall the list of 'bits', I'm afraid in case it also uninstalls Norton 2010, which I've installed in the last few days. 

Is that likely to happen?

I'll appreciate advice from the helpful techs on here please.

The Norton Removal Tool removes everything called Norton.
The only time I run the NRT is when I am installing a different Norton product.
If you are just installing same product but later edition I do not use the supplied disc to update.
By using the code printed on the disc sleeve I use that to renew my subscription.
When Norton confirms subscription renewed I then click on 'check for new version' under help and support.
Then do a 'liveupdate' check.
Job done, then put box away in safe place just in case.

If you are looking for something that will remove all those bits (in the registry) that get left behind then CCleaner seems the one that get recommended most.     It's free and also has the other options of removing cookies, history etc.

One of the best removal tools is REVO UNINSTALLER (IT'S FREE  )
it gets rid of everything, including bits left over in your registry
