Hello all,

I am trying to find the birth certificate from the Parish records for a William Slater Born in 1797 in Preston Lancashire and a marriage certificate between Elizabeth Manning and John Wesley in 1810 in Blackburn. Can someone please assist ?

Many thanks,

David    :D

You'll not get a certificate like post-1837 certificates.

First stop would be the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk Project www.lan-opc.org.uk/

However, I've looked for the two events you mention and they're not there.

I'm not 100% certain how complete Preston is, but Blackburn St Mary the Virgin is complete in this period, and any marriages in 1810 would have taken place there - whether CofE or non-conformist.  Not sure about RC, as I don't have any of them in my tree, so have never investigated.

Where do you have the information (dates and places) from?
Lancashire: Stevenson, Wild, Holden, Jepson
Worcs/Staffs: Steventon, Smith
East London & Suffolk: Guest, Scrutton
East London: Palfreman (prev Tyneside), Bissell, Collis, Dearlove, Ettridge
Herts: Camac, Collis, Mason, Dorrington, Siggens
Marylebone & Sussex: Cole
London & Huntingdonshire: Freeman
Bowland: Marsden, Noble
Shropshire: Guest

Sorry if I am confusing you David...all I am saying is that the Parish record states
JOHN DALL married Dorothy Ann Blackburn
but there is a record of a John Wesley Dall later on in the Parish records...you need to check them out as it looks like 2 different men to me....allan
