Thomas & Lucy Jenks?
« on: Wednesday 28 July 10 10:48 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to confirm a Thomas Jenks (1809 - 1889 approx, born and died in Staffordshire) and his wife Lucy (1811 - 1889 approx. and their children should be;
Mary Ann Jenks
William Thomas Jenks
Edward Jenks
Thomas Jenks
Lucy Jenks
Arthur Jenks
John Jenks

(I cannot be sure of all of these details, but from the notes I have they seem accurate)

I believe Thomas Jenks (1809 -1889 approx) Dad was also Thomas Jenks - and his Grandfather was Thomas Jenks but I have no other details. At some point, from what I have been told, I believe this line is Flemish (but I have no proof or further details).

I do have access to ancestry.com and I'm happy to buy documents, etc. but I'm struggling to find any ancestors for this family group .... can anyone offer any leads to Thomas or his wife Lucy please??

Thank you!

Hiya Lianne

I'm having a problem finding any records for the family

Thomas (1809) is listed as being born Codsall - these records are kept at Staffordshire Record Office

I am wondering if the family changed/shortened their surname and that is why we cant find them. This might be particularly true if you think the family were originally Flemish

Your best bet would be to get one of the childrens birth certificates to confirm Lucys maiden name. The reference for Lucys is Sept 1838 Wolverhampton 17 408 and you can order it from here https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

If you can get her maiden name then maybe we can cross check it to try and pin the family down further. Wolverhampton have a lot of their records online at http://www.wolverhamptonarchives.dial.pipex.com/

Let us know what you find

Great thank you - I will order the certificate and see what it says.
Thanks for the help - I'm a bit lost with all this searching - especially with this side of the family!
