St. Cadocs, Trevethin

Hi there,

A few years ago, I was over in Wales on holiday & thought it was would be wise to visit the cemetery at St. Cadocs in Trevethin to try and find the burial location of some ancestors but only to find that a large part of the cemetery towards the back was all overgrown and therefore impossible to search through to find anything.

Can anyone tell me if the cemetery has been cleared of all the overgrown grass etc?  Wales is at least a 7 hour drive from where I live and have been keen to find something at St. Cadocs for a long while now.

Hi I have a nice web page for you, you will be able to contact the church for information. My greatgrandparents and other members of our family are buried there but I have not been to the church for years.

i was up the cemetary not so long ago trying to find my great grandads grave but it is in a poor state up there and i wasnt able to find anything, the top part of the cemetary is overgrown and there is subsidence up there where some of the graves are dipping.

 i telephoned the church to find the plot number and they said there was a fire in the church some years ago and most of the records have been destroyed.

i have been up to the cemetery around 6 months ago, it is still overgrown but you would would need a good pair of walking boots and jeans to access some of the old part of the cemetery, i was able to find my ancestor's grave but only as i knew where it was.  There has been map at the entrance of the churchyard showing the sections and the different years which they belong to. 

Also the church has had open days in the last few years for the public to view the records it may be worth ringing the vicar who may be able to advise you when the next open day is. i have found this website
