I am really stuck.

I have a marriage cert for a john frderick starr (61) married to alice hubbard (30) 1952
I am stuck on the hubbard side.
The marriage cert has alfred ernest hubbard (deceased) steel worker/labourer as father

I can't get anywhere from this point on. I am trying to find alice's parents. Hopefully a census search will help.

Hi Karen

There are two births on Freebmd that could be Alice  - one in 1922 in Sheffield and one in 1921 in Doncaster. I won't post details in case she  is still alive, but here is the link.

I think you may have to purchase a certificate to find her parents' names. The only census that might help is the 1911 and we are not allowed to do look ups for that on here.

If its correct and the mother is Alice Beck and she married alfred in 1918 in sheffield. Could they be on the 1901 census. Does anyone have access?

I've had a look on the 1901 but there are at least 7 Alice Becks of a suitable age. 

A 5 year old in Keighley
Two  4 year olds in Barnsley
A 3 year old in Goole
A 4 year old in Knaresborough
A 17 year old in Leeds
A 15 year old in Skipton

Again, you will probably have to purchase Alice's marriage certificate to find her father's name.
