Thank you so much for coming up with so much information so quickly - only two hours - I'm  amazed!

Travelling from England to California and back and then back again to California must have been quite an arduous undertaking at that time - I guess they must have been fairly wealthy to afford it.

I wonder what Albert did to end up in San Quentin!  He's the only "black sheep" I've come across in my family so far.

Many thanks again, Kathryn

Hello Kathryn,

I don't seem to be finding Albert in 1920 or 1930. Strange though that he claimed exemption for a brother and 2 minor children - no wife !!

All this information is superb!  Looks like Claudia never married, but is it possible to find marriage records and/or offspring for Albert and Kenneth?  I may have long-lost relatives alive in California!

Kathryn

Hello Kathryn,

The California Marriage Index covers 1960 - 1985 and we really need an earlier time frame for the marriage of Kenneth. I have'nt as yet managed to find any other death record in Yucaipa which might match a wife for Kenneth - that could offer a glimmer of a hope of a way forward.

I don't know if anyone else could put forward an idea of how you could obtain information from San Quentin Prison re Albert James - wondering if there might be records or somewhere you could write to for information.

Regards.
Sandra

US Public Records -  could be the possible match for Kenneth in 1994. Not quite sure why there are 2 birth dated - the 4 July 1910 would be the nearest to Kenneth's age.  ???

Dorothy V Griffith
Birth Date: 7 Oct 1919 (4 Jul 1910)
Address Given is  12830 4th St, Yuciapa, CA, 92399 (1994)

Name: Kenneth R Griffith
Birth Date: 30 Oct 1905
Address given is  12380 4th St, Yucaipa, CA, 92399-4136 (1994)

Now I'm confused!  The death index shows Kenneth died in Apr 1993 yet he appears to be here in 1994.  Surely there weren't two Kenneth R Griffith both born on 30th Oct 1905?  Seems lke too much of a coincidence.

No that does'nt mean anything, if you use some of the people search sites the information can be years out of date. He is the correct one.

Same thing could happen in th UK could'nt it - if you looked at a telphone directory for a certain year, it could list someone who died the year before.
