Hi again Sarah.

On the 1841 census Mary wife of John is born out of County.

Therefore the 1851 Census seems okay.

I have followed them through until Ann their daughter is
Head, them both having died, with Hannah.

Then I checked through the censuses for John and Elizabeth Smith
families.

The naming pattern of the Children seem to match Elizabeth sibling's.

Can you think of any thing else.

Sandy

Hi Sandy

Pennie was saying that John Tite married twice to two Mary's that could be where my problem lies as John Tite 1839 is with his dad and Half siblings in 1851.  Elizabeth Tite seems to be with her mum, stepdad and half sibling in 1851.  How common was divorce in this period?  Or where they both bigamists?   If so how would i find this sort of information out. Or have i complete gone off on the wrong track?

And i thought my Horton and Piddlington ancestors were causing me problems.

Hi Again.

I think if you look at the 1841 Census as I mentioned above.

Mary was not born in County, therefore there did not have
to be a second marriage, unless I am in-correct which I can easily be.  :)

There are certainly no burials in Northants C of E's for a Mary/Mary Ann
maybe clarification may be made for you.

I thought they were going to run into your Piddington ones.  :)

I wonder if Penholder has the same line.

I don't think they were bigamists.

The families at that time would not have been able to pay
for a divorce so would have just set up home with another partner.

This link may help.

My own relatives had children in 1851 and married in 1860's.

Hi Sandy
I think they will run into them at Piddlington.  If i look at the family tree from my son his ancestors marry into the Tite side about 5 times at the moment.  Elizabeth Tite is my ggg grand mother on my mothers side.  The other Tite comes in about my 8 x great grandparents on my mothers dad side.  Don't know if Penholder has any Tite's on the tree.

Not overly helpful in your search backwards, but as a child in Paulerspury, we had a dinner lady called Mrs Tite!  Do you know if the family stayed in the area ?

Hi everyone! I hope this thread is still active.
I'm looking for information on the Tites of Wavendon/Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire. I think I have Jemima Tite (born 1840 Wavendon, daughter of George Tite from Northampton) marrying John Henry Durrant. They would be my great great grandparents. Does anybody have any handy information?

I have a lot of original documents that have been handed down but sadly, no living relatives to help me decipher it all.
