Well that's a very small download and only took seconds to instal.
Looks like a handy wee tool to have.

It might help resolve the problem Carole and others are having but it may just be a shortcut for what they tried manually.

Full link to the download is this:   http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

NB CLICKING ON THIS LINK WILL TAKE YOU STRAIGHT TO THE DOWNLOAD

I think Kermit has made his home here.

I did the download and then the procedure but when I re-started, I got the same problem as before - error message "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction"

Clicked ok and there was Kermit

After another system restore I had a brainwave.  I deleted the Microsoft update KB2229593 which was installed on 14/7 and re-started.

Did it work - NO!!   He's here to stay!!

I haven't tried the download yet but following other instructions what I get now is the page when you put your password in wrong and have to press enter to get the login box back and carry on as normal!

if that makes sense?!

Unable to log you on because of an account restriction

It sounds like you have not set a password - you must set a password in order to be automatically logged on as per instructions here:

A strange thing has happened on my PC in the last 2-3 days which I cannot get rid of so would appreciate any help/advice

I am the sole user of the PC and do not have a lo gin id to access it

Normally when I boot up - it goes straight to my desktop with all the various icons etc

Suddenly - I now get a blue screen with a line down the middle

Left of the line is the Microsoft XP logo plus "To begin, click your user name"

To the right of the line is a white square with what looks like a green frog in it and to the side of the square it says "User"

I now have to click the frog to get to my desktop

Microsoft have installed a number of updates recently - is this the result of one of them?

How do I get rid of it?

As well as my own i had the switched off guest account and about 3 three others.I just deleted the others :)I noticed my computer now shuts down a lot quicker.

Have had no green frogs on my netbook which uses XP yet! However, I have had problems on here with the machine W7 telling me my password and user name has changed, I have become suspicious of Virgin media back up, and have removed it. See what difference if any that makes, it was a belt and braces thing really.
